Both the lower (extruder) and upper (pug-sealer) barrels are fitted with replaceable Ni-HARD liners and mechanical packing feeders. All joint faces and liner bolts are 'O' ring sealed for vacuum tightness.
The vacuum chambers are made in two halves for ease of maintenance and are fitted with a perspex viewing port with external illumination.
Identical augers are fitted to both barrels and may be supplied in either cast steel hard faced, or 27% chrome material. Being formed of half pitch castings, it is only necessary to replace a portion of each assembly to maintain efficiency.
Shafts are machined from high tensile steel and carried on ball and roller bearings throughout.
Gears are machine cut
heat treated steel, running in oil in completely
enclosed dust tight gear cases. Drives are by Vee-belts
and constricting
type air clutches.
